ODE TO THE BEMUSED

Made while studying at St Martin’s College of Art in London, and heavily influenced by the experimental films of Robert Breer and Stan Brakhage.

A collage of ideas and images, combining previously shot footage, imagery created directly on film stock and fragments borrowed from fellow students’ work. The soundtrack was assembled in a similar way, with an emphasis on rhythm, visual association and the relationships between seemingly unrelated sounds and images, rather than conventional narrative.
